Privacy Policy

NSEW is the tool Notches Sewing uses on its own Instagram professional account and Facebook Page, connected through Meta’s official APIs, together with its Shopify store. When someone comments on our posts, NSEW can reply under the comment and send that person a private message with a link, and it reports which posts led to orders.

If you commented on or messaged Notches Sewing, this policy explains what happens to that information and how to have it deleted.

• From Instagram and Facebook, for our connected accounts only: comments on our posts (the text, the commenter’s Instagram- or Facebook-scoped ID, username or display name, and time); direct messages exchanged with our account, including taps on message buttons; the messages NSEW sends and whether they were delivered; our posts (captions, thumbnails and links); and the access token Meta issues for the account.
• From Shopify, when connected: order number, amount, currency, payment status, the landing and referring page, and NSEW’s click reference. We do not store customers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers or delivery addresses.
• Link clicks: when someone opens a link NSEW sent, we record the time, the link, the referring page, and keyed hashes of the IP address and browser string, used to filter out automated visits. The original IP address and browser string are not stored. A cookie holds a random visitor identifier.
• Team accounts: the email address of each person with an NSEW login, a hash of their password, their sign-in sessions, and a log of changes they make. Each Monday NSEW emails our team a summary of the week’s results: counts only, never commenters’ or customers’ details.
• Messages to us: whatever you choose to send.

Only to run NSEW: to match comments to our automations, send the replies and messages we set up, show our team the conversations, count clicks and match orders to posts, keep the service secure, and answer requests.

We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. Information from Meta’s platforms is used only as Meta’s Platform Terms and Developer Policies allow.

• ac_session and ac_workspace: keep a team member signed in to the dashboard and remember which workspace is open.
• ac_vid: a random identifier set when a tracked link is opened, kept for up to a year, so repeat taps and unique visitors can be told apart.
• Short-lived cookies that secure the sign-in while we connect Instagram or Facebook.

There are no third-party analytics or advertising cookies.

We share information only with the service providers that make NSEW work: Rahul Simi, who builds, hosts and maintains NSEW for us and may access its data only to do that; Meta (to send replies and messages through Instagram and Messenger); Shopify (to read orders); and Hostinger (which hosts the service, its database and its email). These providers may process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Otherwise we disclose personal information only where the law requires it.

• Access tokens from Meta and Shopify are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM).
• Passwords are stored only as Argon2 hashes, and sign-in sessions only as hashes.
• Only named team accounts can sign in to the dashboard.
• All traffic uses HTTPS.

Defaults, which we can adjust within limits:

• Comments received: 180 days. Copies of the original notifications from Meta: 7 days.
• Link-click records: 365 days.
• Webhook delivery logs: 30 days. Background job records: 14 days. The change log: 365 days.
• Conversations, contacts, order records and per-post totals: while we use NSEW, so the team can see the history, unless deletion is requested.

Older records are removed by an automatic daily clean-up. If we stop using NSEW, its data is deleted.

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@nsew.shop. We respond within 30 days. The Data deletion page explains the steps.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

NSEW is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children under 16.

We will update this page, and the date at the top, when how we handle information changes.
